Make Your Own - 3 Steps to Success
1. Find a Recipe
There are lots of recipes on this site for you to try. I have made all of them for my Coton-de-Tulear, Luigi.
If you are not a very confident cook, then it would be better to start with something easy. If you don't even really want to have to cook (or you don't have an oven), then try these easy homemade snacks. If you would like to try baking, then here is a list of easy treat recipes.
2. Get together the ingredients you need.
Look at the recipe and see if you need to go shopping! You need to collect together the ingredients and equipment that you need.
If you are new to baking the try to follow a recipe exactly to start with. You can always branch out and get creative later.
Take care that your pet will like the ingredients in the recipe - or that he doesn't have any dog food allergies with anything used. I have lots of information about wheat free dog treats if you need it.
3. Get baking!
Once you have got everything together it is time to start baking.
It might help you to read through these tips on how to make dog treats before you start so you are sure you know what you are doing.
If you don't understand anything about the recipe or instructions, then you can ask me a question about making homemade dog treats and I will try to answer it for you.
Take is slowly and follow one step at at time. If you make a mistake, don't get flustered. Just see if you can put things right. This type of recipe is very forgiving (and so are pooches!). You will soon find it easy to make your own dog treats.
Yes I know I said 1,2,3, but now you need to test out what you have made on your favorite four-legged friend. I am sure there will be at least one of them hanging around the kitchen waiting for this moment!
If you own a picky pet, then they may not like what you have made the first time - but keep practicing and I am sure you will find something he loves before too long.
I hope you have as much fun in the kitchen as I do. And that your tasty results are eaten up by a happy pet!
